How to Cook Ramen Noodles on The Stove: Who Else Wants to Cook Like a Pro?

In order to cook ramen noodles on the stove,

You need to prepare a small pot of water (500mL), and an instant ramen packet.

First, bring the water to a boil.

Then put the noodles in the pot and wait for 3 minutes.

After 3 minutes, turn off the heat and mix the seasoning packet with the noodles.

Done!

It is simple. Right?

1. Then why haven't some people made ramen on the stove?

Probably they have been eating noodles in a plastic cup, so they don’t need to use a stove.

But there’s one problem.

Ramen noodles in a container cost a lot more.

It is double or even triple the price of bagged ramen.

Yes, it is convenient because you don’t have to wash your pot or bowl.

But the contents of cup ramen and the bagged ramen are the same.

So why don’t you save some money?

Another reason why people don’t cook ramen on the stove is...

2. Because some people don’t want to use the stove

Well, but there are so many good things about cooking instant noodles on the stove.

Take a look...

1. Making ramen on the stove is level 1 of cooking

Just imagine:

You are a really good chef.

You can make whatever you want and they are delicious!

A lot of good chefs started their career from making instant ramen on the stove.

So you can do it too!

It is like…

Having a battle with rattatas when you start playing Pokemon.

You don’t challenge Mewtwo in Pallet Town right after choosing your first pokemon.

Gain the skills and confidence with rattatas and move on to the next city.

Another good thing about cooking instant noodles on the stove is...

2. It is easy to tweak your instant noodles

You can add some improvements to your instant noodles and make your own bowl.

Like adding your favorite meat and vegetables as topping.

Adding broth to change the taste of the soup etc..

3. You don't create as much garbage with bagged noodles

When you eat instant noodles that come with its container, you will have a lot of garbage.

The container, the lid, and a disposable spoon or chopsticks.

But bagged instant ramen doesn’t have them.

So it is more eco-friendly in comparison.

4. Bagged noodles are cheaper in the same flavor

As I mentioned earlier, you can buy a bag of ramen at half the price or less.

You must cook ramen on the stove to save money.

Do you want to know how to make instant noodles better?

I wrote an article about it.

When you are already comfortable making this basic way,

Try this out…

4. Due to Covid, a lot of good ramen restaurants have closed

It makes me feel very sad.

I used to eat ramen out frequently,

But in this situation,

Ramen shops started to shorten the hours, limit the number of customers, or closed their shops.

It has affected the industry so much.

5. I am afraid good ramen will be gone

But meanwhile, you still can enjoy shio and shoyu ramen.

Here are some of my recommendations for ramen lovers.

1. Sapporo Ichiban Shio Flavor

MY THOUGHTS OVERALL ★★★★☆

In truth, Sapporo Ichiban delivers a good quality shio ramen experience.

Actually, it is very difficult to find good shio ramen.

Do you know why?

Because it is very difficult to make it since it is very simple.

There are many good shoyu and miso flavored instant noodles out there.

But I feel specifically, the shio flavor market is monopolized by Sapporo Ichiban.

Think about this for a moment having good shio ramen for your dinner with your favorite ramen toppings.

Now, you want some, don’t you?

2. Nissin Raoh Shoyu Flavor

MY THOUGHTS OVERALL ★★★★★

It is nearly impossible to make restaurant quality noodles at home without the right tools and equipment.

How can you beat that?

Using Raoh’s shoyu flavour will help you achieve this easily. This is top-notch ramen hands down!

One pinnacle of instant noodles is the soy sauce flavor. It is expensive compared to regular ones but let me tell you, it deserves every single penny.

In a nutshell, I love every bit of it.

...And I am sure you will too.

3. The problem here is that no toppings come with these packets.

Here are some topping options and recipes for you.

Green onion
Nori

4. Have you ever faced these issues...

A lack of large, high-quality soup bowl sets at home?

About the Author

Kei is a self-proclaimed ramen lover, blog writer and founder of "Apex S.K. Japanese tableware".

"I am from Ibaraki, Japan.

Ramen is great! It can bring you a sense of happiness and satisfaction that no other food can. I have been eating ramen for 30 years.

If there is no ramen, my life would be miserable.

Ten years ago, I worked as an office worker. The job was really stressful - excessive working hours, low wages, unpaid overtime work, and constantly being yelled at by my boss.

I was new and alone, no girlfriend, no friends, and felt very lonely.

My only oasis was the ramen shop near the office. For me, the ramen chef there was literally an angel. I saw a halo on his head. (No joke)

Tonkotsu shoyu ramen was my all-time favorite. He made ramen with broth chock-full of umami flavor, nice chewy handmade noodles, and tender chashu.

My greatest dream is connect people with ramen through my blog. I want to share a lot of interesting and funny stories and ramen trivia with you.

Knowing more about ramen can help you appreciate your ramen and make it taste extra delicious."
