Chashu Ramen Calories: If You Don't Read This Now, You'll Hate Yourself Later

Chashu ramen has 530 calories.

Noodles in chashu ramen have 340 calories,

Chashu(slices of braised pork) has 72 calories.

And the soup has 60 calories.

1. Do you think chashu ramen has too many calories?

The ramen shop that I used to eat at on my route to work is called Ramen Oyama.

It was next to Lawson. Chashu ramen was the most expensive dish there.

When I worked hard and felt very tired at the office,

I ordered a bowl of chashumen for myself as a reward.

2. Chashu ramen has an extra 60 calories compared to shoyu ramen

Chashu ramen is a bowl of ramen that has a lot of chashu on it.

Usually, chashu ramen has a shoyu base soup.

Broth is made of chicken bone broth, and it has medium thick and wavy ramen noodles.

Shoyu ramen has 470 calories and chashu ramen has 530 calories.

3. These 60 calories are coming from extra slices of chashu

Chashu ramen has more than 5 slices of chashu,

But shoyu ramen has only 1 slice of chashu.

Let’s say your chashu ramen has 6 chashu slices and one slice of chashu has around 12 calories.

In total, it is 72 calories. And as I said, compared to shoyu ramen, there are 60 extra calories.

4. One serving of chashu ramen noodles has 340 calories

This is for 230 grams of noodles.

Noodles have the most calories within the whole chashu ramen element.

Ramen noodles are made of wheat flour, so it makes sense.

5. Chashu has 72 calories

When you put a slice of chashu into your mouth,

This nice savory taste and the feeling of melting soft texture brings you to heaven.

It is usually made of fatty pork.

But it is sliced, so it doesn’t have as many calories as you might think.

One slice of chashu(20 grams) has 12 calories.

6. Chashu ramen soup has 60 calories

The amount of one serving of ramen soup is 400ml and it has 60 calories.

I don’t recommend drinking all the soup because of the sodium this ramen soup has.

People usually leave a good amount of the soup.

So calories ingested are actually not that much.

Chashu ramen soup is made of broth, some seasoning, and flavored oil.

Its flavored oil has 46 calories,

Broth has 12 calories,

And seasoning has 2 calories.

7. Ajitama ramen egg has 50 calories

Ajitama ramen egg is one of the  most popular ramen toppings.

The perfect condition of the golden yolk...

It is not completely cooked.

But it doesn't run.

The flavor is spread through the egg and even into the center.

Usually, you get half an egg on ramen.

So, it is 25 grams, and has 50 calories.

8. Menma has 5 calories

Menma is fermented bamboo shoots.

It is a typical chashu ramen topping.

Usually, 10 grams of menma is on chashu ramen and it has 5 calories.

9. Green onions have 3 calories

Green onions promote the taste of chashu ramen by creating harmony with the soup.

The smell and spiciness of green onions add a punch to your ramen.

10 grams of green onions is on chashu ramen and it has 3 calories.

10. Nori seaweed has 1 calorie

Japanese sun-dried seaweed is an excellent supporting character of ramen.

One piece of nori is 0.75 grams and it has 1 calorie.

Due to Covid, a lot of good ramen restaurants have closed

It makes me feel very angry.

I used to eat ramen out frequently,

But in this situation,

Ramen shops have started to shorten the hours, limit the number of customers, or even closed their shops.

It has affected the industry so much.

I am afraid good ramen will be gone

But meanwhile, you still can enjoy ramen in the comfort of your own home.

Here are some of my recommendations for ramen lovers.

1. Sapporo Ichiban Shio Flavor

MY THOUGHTS OVERALL ★★★★☆

In truth, Sapporo Ichiban delivers a good quality shio ramen experience.

Actually, it is very difficult to find good shio ramen.

Do you know why?

Because it is very difficult to make it since it is very simple.

There are many good shoyu and miso flavored instant noodles out there.

But I feel specifically, the shio flavor market is monopolized by Sapporo Ichiban.

Think about this for a moment having good shio ramen for your dinner with your favorite ramen toppings.

Now, you want some, don’t you?

2. Nissin Raoh Shoyu Flavor

MY THOUGHTS OVERALL ★★★★★

It is nearly impossible to make restaurant quality noodles at home without the right tools and equipment.

How can you beat that?

Using Raoh’s shoyu flavour will help you achieve this easily. This is top-notch ramen hands down!

One pinnacle of instant noodles is the soy sauce flavor. It is expensive compared to regular ones but let me tell you, it deserves every single penny.

In a nutshell, I loved every bit of it.

...And I am sure you will too.

3. The problem here is that no toppings come with these packets.

Here are some topping options and recipes for you.

Green onion
Nori

About the Author

Kei is a self-proclaimed ramen lover, blog writer and founder of "Apex S.K. Japanese tableware".

"I am from Ibaraki, Japan.

Ramen is great! It can bring you a sense of happiness and satisfaction that no other food can. I have been eating ramen for 30 years.

If there is no ramen, my life would be miserable.

Ten years ago, I worked as an office worker. The job was really stressful - excessive working hours, low wages, unpaid overtime work, and constantly being yelled at by my boss.

I was new and alone, no girlfriend, no friends, and felt very lonely.

My only oasis was the ramen shop near the office. For me, the ramen chef there was literally an angel. I saw a halo on his head. (No joke)

Tonkotsu shoyu ramen was my all-time favorite. He made ramen with broth chock-full of umami flavor, nice chewy handmade noodles, and tender chashu.

My greatest dream is connect people with ramen through my blog. I want to share a lot of interesting and funny stories and ramen trivia with you.

Knowing more about ramen can help you appreciate your ramen and make it taste extra delicious."
